"If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast." - Ernest Hemingway

Visiting the Consulate General

Living in Kansas, the French Consulate General I am assigned to is in Chicago. So, managing to only get one day off work, my mom and I planned a two day trip. We made a 19 hour round trip in the car to spend a mere 14 hours in Chicago.

When scheduling my appointment, I chose the first appointment of the day - 9:10 AM. What I did not take into consideration was that this would require us to get to the consulate's office on N Michigan in rush hour traffic.

We got lucky and the traffic was not too bad, and we arrived early to the appointment. Making our way to the 37th floor, we ran into a girl who also had a 9:10 appointment. I was called to the left window and she to the right one. My paperwork was reviewed, picture was taken, and fingerprints were scanned. Several other people were filing into the waiting room as I had my appointment, and the first appointment appeared to be a good choice as I left the office building at 9:30, receipt in hand.

So now I wait for a special delivery... my passport that will include my student visa.
